Matt F. Redlon, M.B.A., is vice president of Digital Biology at Mayo Clinic, where he serves as the technology leader for Mayo Clinic Digital Pathology and the technical architect for its venture portfolio. Mr. Redlon’s role is to guide the strategy, development and clinical translation of Mayo Clinic’s advanced digital biology platforms, mentoring a world-class engineering and research team along the way.

Mr. Redlon directs the initiative’s "skunkworks" research and development into breakthrough areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) virtual cells, biological digital twins and multimodal foundation models. A primary focus is architecting the technical foundation for Digital Pathology’s portfolio of spin-out companies, enabling them to leverage shared data, models and infrastructure to accelerate product development. By partnering closely with clinicians, the team translates these innovations into routine care, catalyzing breakthroughs in diagnostics, oncology and biomarker-guided therapy to advance Mayo Clinic's core value: the needs of the patient come first.

In his previous role as principal technologist in the Generative AI Program, Mr. Redlon served as technical leader for Mayo Clinic's AI foundation model development initiatives and related partnerships. The program’s pioneering work across modalities included the development of radiology image models with Microsoft Research, genomic models with Cerebras, and digital pathology models with Aignostics. Additionally, he provided AI consultation and leadership to the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center as well as Research on projects ranging from cutting-edge multimodal AI model development to virtual cells and tissue twins.

Mr. Redlon brings more than two decades of experience in AI, data analytics and technology-driven business innovation. Before joining Mayo Clinic, he co-founded and served as CEO of Clario, a pioneering marketing and customer intelligence platform. Under his leadership, Clario served major global brands, integrating advanced analytics and AI to drive transformative marketing strategies. Earlier in his career, Mr. Redlon held senior roles at UnitedHealth Group and its subsidiaries, where he led product innovation and development of complex healthcare analytics systems.

Mr. Redlon holds a Bachelor of Science in economics with minors in mathematics and finance and an M.B.A. from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. He also serves as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Minnesota’s Technological Leadership Institute, teaching strategic management of technology and innovation.
