Mayo Clinic AI Research Summit

The AI Research Summit is Mayo Clinic’s premier academic conference advancing healthcare AI research, methodological innovation, and responsible translation to practice. The Summit convenes scientists, faculty, students, and innovators across disciplines to shape the future of real-world evidence generation.

“A New Engine for Real-World Evidence Generation” to be held in Rochester, Minnesota on June 4-5, 2026. The conference is organized by the Mayo Clinic Department of Artificial Intelligence and Informatics in partnership with the Mayo Clinic Research Shield and the Mayo Clinic AI community.

New in 2026: Dedicated programming for academic faculty and students, basic scientists, and the Rochester Epidemiology Project’s 60th anniversary.

Who Should Attend

Why Attend
The AI Research Summit provides a rigorous academic forum for faculty advancing healthcare AI, digital biology, simulation, and population science. Sessions emphasize methodological integrity, peer-reviewed research, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

What You’ll Find

  • Peer-reviewed lightning talks and posters
  • Faculty-to-faculty collaboration
  • Access to Mayo Clinic research challenges and datasets

Why Attend
The AI Research Summit welcomes undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral
trainees interested in healthcare AI, biomedical data science, and population health research.

Dedicated student programming focuses on research exposure, mentorship,
and pathways into academic and healthcare research careers.

Student Focused Opportunities

  • Student poster sessions
  • Mentorship roundtables with faculty
  • Exposure to real-world healthcare AI research

Why This Matters
Basic scientists — including those who do not identify as AI researchers — are explicitly invited to explore how AI serves as a methodological accelerator for discovery, simulation, and experimental design across digital biology and systems research.

Key Topics

  • AI-enabled discovery
  • Simulation & virtual biology
  • Cross-disciplinary collaboration

In celebration of the Rochester Epidemiology Project’s 60th anniversary, the Summit features dedicated sessions examining the intersection of AI, longitudinal population data, and epidemiologic rigor.

Programming includes applied examples, methodological debate, and future looking discussion on responsible AI use in population science.

The AI Research Summit welcomes clinician researchers and faculty bridging academic AI research into real-world clinical and operational use. Programming emphasizes validation, governance, implementation science, and responsible translation — not clinical operations or CME training.

Programming in the Science-to-Practice & Clinical Translation track focuses on validation, governance, implementation science, and the practical challenges of moving AI from research environments into care delivery — without sacrificing rigor, safety, or trust.

Select strategic partners and benefactors are invited to participate in the Summit as collaborators and strategic listeners, engaging in dialogue around responsible AI research, translation, and long-term ecosystem development.
